Office

In Karaköy since 2011; an avant-garde architecture practice using the void as a material.

An avant-garde architecture office with black walls, a neon line and white models

Our story

Ahmet Yılmaz founded VOID in 2011 in an old warehouse in Karaköy after returning from London. Our first project was a competition; we did not win, but the giant circular void we proposed came true years later in Tech Hub.

Today a team of twenty designs towers, museums, houses and campuses. In every project we ask the same question: what can we take out to make the building better?

We always bring radical proposals with numbers: wind, cost, energy. Courage convinces when it is measured.

ManifestoFive principles

  1. Void first. We draw not the mass but what is taken out of it.
  2. Typology is questioned. Tower, house, museum; none has a ready-made form.
  3. Courage is measured. Every radical proposal comes with a cost and performance study.
  4. The void is public. We open the best part of the building to everyone.
  5. A mark on the skyline. A building the city does not remember is incomplete.
